The work was born out of the need to communicate the increasingly evident change and loss of nature that surrounds us. I chose the mountain, fragile and majestic, landscape of Val Ferret affected by the landslide in the summer of 2022 as a symbol of an increasingly dramatic change. Transience is inherent in nature; the natural factors that transform and change the landscape are characterised by endogenous and exogenous forces, but the human activities that have always modified it have over the centuries caused serious damage, altering and destroying many natural environments. Destruction is taking place and the beauty around us is at great risk. The work is characterised by the sequence of three images: contrast between beauty and darkness, real and not real, present and not yet future; presence and subtraction. The sequence is an invitation to reflect on the destruction taking place and the urgency of change as a necessary and still possible action.

Things are not as they appear

Things are not as they appear is an open project, featuring images taken from 2015 to the present. The work stems from the need to shed light on the relationship between the visible and non-visible dimensions. Every element of reality, natural or artificial, is composed of other elements and is subject to continuous transformation, which leads us into multiple dimensions, inherent in the reality that surrounds us. Impermanence shows us the stratification and complexity of what we are and what is around us. It is an invitation to imagine, to go beyond what is visible, leaving room for doubt and question. Each image lives individually and is at the same time related to the others in a systemic dimension. Everything is connected and each image reveals its own dimension towards a deeper reading of reality that is not as it appears.

Impermanence

Year_

2016_2017

Every existing thing is impermanent and witnesses a continuous transformation of the world. Impermanence constitutes the nature of things and images have the power to make the observer re-emerge into something that no longer exists by activating a physical and mental sensation connected to the essence of things and their surface. A precise portion of experience fixed with an analytical gaze, a moment chosen and almost catalogued according to the emotional temperature that lives in each image. In perceiving the essence of the thing itself, I try to enter photographically into its concrete dimension in order to feel and stop what does not remain.

Quotidiana

Year_

Quotidiana is a project where the object is the protagonist. A sign of what it has been and is in its present condition, a symbol of an apparently immobile everyday life. The emotional and vital charge of its history elevates it from its condition of simple object. The gaze rests in the nostalgia of transit to discover an invisible place, a distant moment, where the future is already present, suspended in the magic of a temporal balance, where the image lives in its history of past present and future. The dialectic image leaves the gaze open.

Extimità

In every reality there is a border that marks the conflictual relationship between inside and outside. The inside and the outside approach each other, they apparently ignore each other, their contact is at the same time a separation. There is thus the inside of the body and the outside of the world; the frontier falls away when the relationship results in dialogue and is delineated as a single body. Extimacy is the subject’s relationship with its own structure, the attempt and desire for dialogue between the inner and outer worlds, an opening and breaking down of the frontier for a deeper knowledge of the self: the dialysing of intimacy as the inner essence and relationship with the other.
